8 Readathons Over 6 1/2 Months

These lists came from two things: a desperate need to conquer my TBR (Now at 558 books) and to read more diversely. 

But Tanya, isn’t this a Queer Book Blog?

Yes, it is. But 7 of 38 books have been white, allocis m/m. 4 of them have been white, allocis f/f. 6 poc m/m and 2 poc f/f. And 1 white ace/aro protagonist in Radio Silence. 1 white m/nb in I Wish You All The Best.

 

 Yes, I read more queer books than straight. But it’s not ideal that most of the books are white, and that there’s such a gap between white m/m and other queer books. The lack of ace/aro, enby, and trans characters is just sad. Black and Native American reads aren’t represented at all; when I say POC It’s usually a Latinx or Asian character, and most Asian reads aren’t novels; they’re manga.

  I know there are people who read less diversely than I do. I don’t compare myself with them. I compare myself with the books I haven’t read. I compare this year’s reading to last year’s reading, and challenge myself to read more widely and more in volume. 

So here are the 8 challenges, with 3 highlighted books. Most, but not all are ownvoices. Please let me know if there’s a mistake, as I haven’t read them.
