Are You Ready For Spooky Bi Season? The Autumn Tag!

1. Hot Chocolate – what is your comfort book?

It is the cliche Harry Potter, more specifically Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. This is where HP peaks for me; there’s literal soul sucking dementors, there’s found family, the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, there’s Buckbeak. It’s just the right mixture of darkness and hope.

2. Pumpkin Carving – what is your favourite creative outlet?

I have several, it’s hard to say which is my favourite. I have gotten more into drawing, and I’ve realised I can’t draw human faces. Eyes are pretty, but not symmetrical and the noses look like snakes.

3. Falling Leaves – changes that appear bad but you secretly love?

I love starting a new school semester! Because I’m a nerd, duh. Even though I hate maths and am cursed to take it every year, bio can be boring while it focuses on the molecules instead of the ecosystem. I love my journalism classes but aren’t taking any this semester. Depending on the time period, history can be really emotionally hard when it goes in depth about various injustices, but it’s important to know about. This is really a semester of requirements instead of fun, but it will hopefully lead to fun in the spring.

4. Pumpkin Spiced Latte – something you love that others tend to judge

Sometimes it seems like everything I do is judged by some people. I try to take short walks everyday to clear my head, get some air, make sure my depression isn’t entirely crippling. But a lot of people think it’s strange or trivial.

5. Bonfire Night – what makes you explode with joy?

I love hashbrowns for breakfast and onion rings with lunch. they’re really simple staples, but most of the meals I can get aren’t really filling and I know that I’ll be comfortably full if I see these. I love the flavour of onions but have really sensitive eyes, so having them cooked is the best.

6. Fright Night – favourite scary book or film

I love IT the book, but the recent movie was a bit of a letdown and I don’t think I’ll see chapter 2. The best part about IT was the gentle timeslip from kids to adults, and having two movies in chronological orders ruins that. There’s also supposed to be a homophobic attack at the beginning, and I’d rather have my fictional horror  and real horror separate.

Anyway, I loved the book. I also saw a few episodes of American Horror Story, with the witches. I’m told it’s something different every season. The camera really captures what’s going on in a clear, vaguely creepy way.

What else. I want to rewatch Monster House, I haven’t seen it since I was a kid.

7. Halloween candy – favourite thing to eat

I already-

I also love seaweed, garlic soaked grilled tofu burgers and pie.

8. Scarves – your autumn ‘must have’ accessory

Tea is my year round accessory. Skulls are my year round accessory, although it is the time of the year my collection expands. Horror books, maybe, but I’m willing to read them all year.

I guess pumpkin spice tea?

9. Fire – a book or film that burns your soul

Apparently this means passion? I haven’t stopped thinking about If We Were Villains: a Shakespeare cult must pretend to mourn the death of their jerk classmate lest they become suspect. There’s a slow-burn queer romance, acting, general college activities always through the lens of “mourning.”

10. Toffee apples – a book or film that seems one thing but really has a different inside

This is a rare thing I see, because I’m pretty open or I just don’t read that may. The best I can think of is DNA’s Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. It looks like science fiction and mystery, but it’s really bizzaro set in space and in a detective’s office.
